Easter Travel Deals to Get Quoted Eggs

The hunt is on

At K Club, the Easter bunny has been busy. Find five mini eggs in the gardens and you’ll get a pass to Easter Island, where the bunny himself (or maybe herself?) hangs out, alongside the other animals in the petting zoo of the island. There are also Easter science camps on site for children, so at €10 an hour per child they can experiment while you go to the spa, go horseback riding, fishing, hitting golf balls or whatever pleases you. €745 per night for two adults and two children under 12 in adjoining rooms, plus breakfast and an evening meal. Stay there for three nights and the rate drops to €700 per night. Available until April 24. kclub.ie

adult stuff

If the Easter deals with free kids attached aren’t exactly your thing, try the Shelbourne special, where you get a night for two, a bottle of champagne and a hand-painted Shelbourne chocolate egg. Available until April 21, for €499 including breakfast – theshelbourne.com. And while you’re there, stroll through beautiful St Stephen’s Green to MoLI, the Museum of Literature Ireland, where their current exhibition Love, Says Bloom explores the love James Joyce had for Nora Barnacle and their children Giorgio and Lucia in this centenary year of Odysseus. Admission €10, valid until July 3. moli.ie

On the spiritual side

If you’re looking for something on the more spiritual side of Easter, or just fancy a good stroll, head to Co Carlow, where the Columban Way was launched earlier this spring. Inspired by St Columbanus, the 45km trail takes you from the Nine Stones viewpoint on Mount Leinster to the Kildare border. St Columbanus himself was born at the foot of Mount Leinster. There are nine cards to help you on your way, and you’ll have a great time connecting with nature, and maybe also feeling the vibes of the 6th century monk who believed in partnership, peace, respect and diversity for the good of all. Where else would you stay for a walking holiday than the Step House? The Borris boutique hotel offers guest rooms from €120 per room. stephousehotel.ie

cool adventures

And while we’re on the subject of cruising, expect a September 18 departure, with Cassidy Travel’s Alaska Fly/Cruise. Fly from Dublin, sleep in Seattle, then sail to Icy Strait Point, Skagway, Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, Juneau, Victoria, then return to Seattle. Seven nights full board with an inside cabin, including transfers, meals, snacks and ‘entertainment’, which may or may not be something exciting, costs from €1,749 pp, with upgrades available for a decent view. cassidytravel.ie

Free for (almost) everyone

Join the extended family with an offer from IHG Hotels and Resorts. Book two rooms for two nights before April 20 at participating hotels in Ireland, the UK, France and Germany, and you get your second room free. They call it the Grandparents Stay For Free offer, but by scanning the fine print, it can also be any other family member you love. Book directly on the microsite for stays through July 15. You will see a charge for the second room, but it will be waived when you check in. In Dublin, your option is the Holiday Inn in the city center; but take it a step further, and I rather like the look of the Holiday Inn in Perpignan, France, where balcony suites start from €134.90 a night. In Berlin, try the Crowne Plaza, from €101 a night; or there’s Edinburgh’s Hotel Indigo, directly on Princes Street from €167 per room. Book at ihg.com/grandparents
