Fall and winter travel deals and why you should book now

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – It’s easy to look at sky-high summer fares and assume the days of cheap flights are over, but that’s not the case. The 8 News Now team spoke to our friends at Scott’s Cheap Flights about how to save money when booking travel for later this summer, as well as fall or winter.

According to a new Bank Rate survey, nearly 70% of people planning summer vacations said they plan to change their itineraries due to inflation, and even more are actively looking for ways to save on trips.

Today’s sky-high prices are more than likely a temporary reaction to an extreme surge in demand, and that’s why there’s never been a better time to be flexible with your plans.

Scott Keyes, the founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights, said if you can postpone your travel plans until late summer or early fall, the so-called “shoulder season,” you can save on average $120 per flight.

Those with international plans pushing their plans into the fall will be able to save even more.

“Just in the last week or two, we’ve seen cheap flights from Las Vegas to Maui for $278 round trip, from Las Vegas to the Bahamas for $294 round trip, or all the way to Columbia for $278 round trip,” Keyes said.

These types of offers appear if you book a few months in advance. If you wait until the last minute, chances are those cheap flights will disappear and only expensive flights will remain.

If you’re hoping to get a cheap flight this winter, don’t wait. Reserve now.

“Summer is when those cheap flights for fall or winter come up.”
