Malaga prepares to welcome rental professionals for Vitur Summit

Spain: Vitur Summit, one of the biggest events in the holiday rental sector, is held in Malaga [at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos) on 6-7 October. In the process, it will turn the city into a European leader in the sector, which is set to generate 1.8 billion euros in Andalusia this year.

The seventh edition of the international event was formally launched at the Palacio de Ferias in Malaga on Wednesday, and was attended by Yolanda de Aguilar, general secretary of tourism of the regional government of Andalusia; Jonathan Gómez, general director of tourism at Malaga City Council; as well as the chair of the Andalusian Association of Professionals [AVVAPro for its Spanish acronym]; and Vitur Summit founder Carlos Pérez-Lanzac.

Pérez-Lanzac said: “This is a top-notch event that positions us as a reference in the sector on the international scene. Andalusia is one of the most important places in the world for vacation rentals and accommodation.

Gómez added: “It is a pleasure and an honor to organize such an important event in the city. The international participants who come will end up becoming influencers of Malaga. It is very rewarding because it improves the city’s tourist offer in the short, medium and long term.

De Aguilar said: “The Vitur Summit is the kind of event that really contributes to the city in so many ways, both tangible and intangible. We are committed to the growth of this initiative internationally. Vitur Summit improves the competitiveness of rental properties and tourist accommodation in Malaga.

“Tourist rental is a very important part of our tourist offer. We need to be aware of market trends in order to meet tourist demands,” she added.

The main European leaders in this sector, as well as administrations and institutions, will meet at the Vitur Summit, a professional event to address the major challenges of companies. More than 70 high-level speakers and panelists as well as approximately 600 participants will be present, with innovative content, business opportunities and networking.

Companies based in Australia, Israel, Iran, Canada, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Spain, among other countries, have already confirmed their presence.

In addition, the house of the future, the “Vitur Living Experience”, will again be presented, a life-size construction of a holiday apartment that includes all the latest innovations in smart home products. To coincide with the event, the European Holiday Home Association [EHHA] will host a working session in Malaga and the Spanish Federation of Holiday Rental Associations [FEVITUR for its Spanish acronym] will convene its board of directors.

At the Vitur Summit, vacation rental managers and owners will meet providers and associations to learn, discuss and share industry experiences. Lasting two days and spanning over 1,000 square meters of exhibition and networking space, the professional event will cover various topics such as technology and sustainability, travel, accommodation and real estate investment, the sectors growth, legislation, trends and training.

On Wednesday October 5, as a prelude to the event, the Vitur Forum Spain will be held at the Rectors conference room at the University of Malaga, bringing together the Spanish markets the main investors, operators and companies to analyze the role of the sector in the national tourism model within a sustainable competitive framework.

The positive impact of holiday accommodation in Andalusia

Andalucia is home to 91,000 vacation rentals and receives around 45% of these types of bookings in Spain.
